 Robert Morris Robert Morris 500x357 dies, a parent of UNIX

Robert Morris, a genius of cryptography and one of the founding fathers of the Unix operating system, has died at age 78 . As recounted in the New York Times, Morris, who graduated in mathematics from Harvard in 1957, he worked at Bell Laboratories of AT & T from 1960 to 1986.

Morris was there that he wrote the math library for UNIX, encryption program, and the encryption scheme to be used for user authentication UNIX in later years.

Morris’s death and leaves us without one of the heads of the birth of the first UNIX operating system, and therefore one of the parents of all the software has emerged as a result of the birth of UNIX. Of course, platforms like Linux, or Solaris Android are based on these premises created by Morris and other legends of computing.

leaves a wife, a daughter and two sons, one of whom is Robert Tappan Morris, creator of what is normally considered as the first Internet worm , the infamous worm Morris Internet.
