After nearly 14 days of survey
in search of the “best” distro GNU / Linux 2011 (note the quotes), and your vows you have spoken and here are the results to give proof. As well imagine that you are willing to see them, leave some comments below, and without further ado, I leave you with what we have:
previous
if you catch is a bit confusing to analyze, then list the ordered survey results, showing votes and percentage on the cake:
Ubuntu
- : 828 (27.09%)
Arch Linux
Fedora
Mandriva
Gentoo
Trisquel
Pardus
Elementary
specialized media , despite the redundancy, but little else. As an example, who would not go before that Distrowatch to Google for information of the distro that interest you? In my opinion, very few people (except for those who we have to announce new versions with the public).
respect to margins of error and “strange things”, as you can imagine I’ve been watching the process and have not detected anything unusual (sudden rush of votes, etc). The other day I explained some things about the survey and I said the same thing: to cheat the system have to spend plenty of time to each vote, plus you have to know how to get (someone with a pretty good eye almost got it right in the comments the other day, too much effort to vary minimally a survey that is not going anywhere). Total consider possible “fraud” at least .
I also noticed that several communities echoed the news, but as you can not be everywhere, that’s fine because, as I say, the arrival of votes was successful (at first many, little by little, as the news was lost in time, far fewer).
Now, my personal assessment of the results:
Linux Mint
Kubuntu as a separate option , also Chakra . For Xubuntu , expect to find above, and the Mandriva … Judge for yourselves. Adding their votes to Mageia , which blunts his own for the early-development would not have reached Kubuntu.
“Other.” Do other distros minority, regional, professional …? Difficult choice to analyze. It is possible that if we repeat the survey next year, have slight changes, but taking into account wide range of possibilities and the fewest votes received , we have not lost too much (and it happens that the 55 votes have the same option on the head, and the comments could not be scratching a lot).
minority of the most surprised me Gentoo and tie Trisquel (in a good way), at the same time I am disappointed with the results of PCLinuxOS ( the last of the ranking!) and to a lesser extent, Slackware and WIN Pardus .
To conclude, there are the data of the percentages. Yes, Ubuntu has regained Linux Mint and it continues to lag behind, but in general, with respect to the “big distros”, I think the cake is more evenly distributed than ever (I imagine two years ago to take these results).
And now your turn to say to you .
