sure many remember how almost two years ago that Microsoft managed to sneak in a rather doubtful (smelled like dead) its OOXML document format , making it a standard that no one used, not even Microsoft Office -not correctly, at least. No matter, because the Redmond had achieved their goal.
any case, it appears that Microsoft has more standard concern for European authorities to which one might think, so German and Swiss specialists have been working to improve OOXML document support in the LibreOffice and office suites OpenOffice.org , as reported in The H Open.
And not much more to tell because this is an initiative that was just made and go for long, but it is known that the resulting development will be released under Apache License v2.0 and one of the points that will be focused on improving interoperability between OOXML and ODF , which is fine.
It might have been interesting more strongly promote ODF from the authorities instead of having this “gesture” to OOXML, but, as they say … Put here saying you will.
