The expected version of this media player is very close to finally be published as evidenced by the launch of code and binaries for Mac OS X and Windows VLC 2.0 RC1 , code-named “Twoflower”.
Interestingly
no packages for Linux distributions , so users who want to enjoy VLC 2.0 RC1 may do so by compiling the source code of an application that will include interesting news.
As revealed in The H Open, these include the license libVLC changes and libVLCcore , which pass to license LGPLv2 + which among other things allow you to use these libraries in non-GPL.
VLC 2.0 RC1
need a computer with Windows XP SP2 or higher , while the Mac OS X machines need a version of the OS that has support for Quartz Extreme.
No change at the interface of Windows, but Mac OS C can change some sections of the visual interface. Other changes include overlays for synchronizing the audio with the subtitles and audio and video effects, and VLC 2.0 RC1 already supports full-screen mode on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion .
You can
download the source code from the server via FTP / HTTP and, if you are Windows users or Mac OS X you have available the download links FTP server on the same project.
