LibreOffice already allows document collaboration via the Internet

office suite LibreOffice have added a feature still experimental: the ability for multiple people can work simultaneously in a document in different parts of the world and through Internet .

The secret of this function is LibreOffice work together with Telepathy , an instant messaging environment supports different protocols. As indicated in Ars Technica, one of the key features of Telepathy is that it allows these IM protocols are used as a means of arbitrary communication between applications.

That ability made

four LibreOffice developers were found for a small “hackfest” in the offices of the Open Source startup Collabora for work on a prototype of a collaborative role in LibreOffice . This “festival of hacking” was organized by The Document Foundation.
