Good News for members of the Linux community: the new version of Mint now available with several new features. The distro includes new features that focus on design and offers a very interesting performance. What follows is a summary of the options that make their debut in “Maya”.
The first thing to mention are the available desktops. Linux Mint 13 uses MATE 1.2 (the GNOME project was born to save 2) as the default interface, but also includes Cinnamon 1.4. The latter is based on GNOME 3, has a modern aesthetic and emphasizes 3D acceleration, but is still unstable.
“Maya” incorporates MDM, a new display manager that provides tools to configure logging and graphics, select topics or choose languages, among other possibilities. Another point to note is the addition of new themes and a varied catalog of wallpapers.
With respect to web browsing should be mentioned adopting Yahoo! as default search engine . According to the developers page, the browser will be available in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
