Probably many of you know and heap up nmap, open source utility hyper-popular-in fact, this command is used quite often in movies and series, to analyze the behavior of the networks to which we connect and to conduct safety audits. Well, yesterday the developers of this utility announced the availability of nmap 6 .
revealed in this announcement, nmap 6 comes three years after nmap 5 , which was released in July 2009, and does so with a lot of work behind: 3,924 code commits, and more than a dozen drafts.
improvements nmap 6 are many important and as highlighted in this article, Nmap Scripting Engine includes a much more powerful, 289 new scripts, better (and faster) network scanning, full support for IPv6, or tools like Nping to test the behavior of packets sent and received.
