a while ago I learned the news via Google + (source here), and is really interesting for users of Firefox on Kubuntu have a version of the browser with the same integration enjoyed by other distributions, including openSUSE.

firefox integrating in kde Integrating Firefox with KDE Kubuntu again, via PPP official

In fact, time has also offered a Firefox Kubuntu with “KDE support”, ie dialogues with native desktop saving (mostly, there are more little things under the surface). But it all ended with the release of, if I remember correctly, Kubuntu 11.04, when distro makers bet on rekonq as the default browser.

must be said that there are at least a PPA repository with the ‘Firefox KDE’, however, the interesting thing about this new I bring you today is that is maintained by the Kubuntu team , Netrunner through, or what is, by the mysterious Blue Systems, which not only provides security, they indicate that their goal is to provide each new version of Firefox soon. It also provides food for thought.

Me for example I can think of that, this being an official movement, perhaps rekonq, which recently launched its first final version, it falls short as a solution for most users (not). To say that Chrome / Chromium and Opera default bring the same level of integration with this Firefox tweaked KDE … What the hell is up better than Firefox retouched, and Chromium is as free software like Firefox .

Leaving aside the controversy, so you can install the ‘Firefox KDE’ in Kubuntu (if you utilizais a PPA for the same purpose, you will have to delete it):

voila , Firefox becomes a decent option in KDE . If you want to greatly improve the look, KDE Oxygen (Firefox Theme) is what you seek. If you are interested in that KWallet also save passwords stored in the browser, Firefox addon for KWallet is the icing.

I did for all this back to Firefox, but like I said, is new, the PPA-very interesting for people you follow with Firefox in KDE.

development team of this distribution has announced the availability of openSUSE 12.2 Milestone 1 , which is the first step “public” the way to the final version of this distribution.

opensuse122 and back again: openSUSE 12.2 Milestone 1

is expected to be the first of four Milestones , to be followed by a beta and release candidate two versions. The final version as the official roadmap coming mid July 2012.

Unsurprisingly

openSUSE 12.2 M1 is aimed at developers and curious users , and in fact contains little real change over the last stable release November 2011, openSUSE 12.1. There are some changes in graphics, a new version of Firefox and the leap to KDE SC 4.8.

Us again, The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle

    first_main_article” class=”article readability=”57″>

Each delivery is a little different name, but The Humble Bundle is already a classic is this offer multiplatform games for the “will” , an initiative gamers really appreciated by the GNU / Linux .

500x418 THFSB Us Again, The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle

This time, however, The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle includes one new title to his credit, Frozen Synapse , “ a great game turn-based strategy ” that seeing the video presentation seems anything but (will have to play it before judging).

    As is standard

The Humble Bundle, to take the offer everyone can pay what you want from a penny on the dollar, but paying from $ 4.54 can be The pack also Humble Frozenbyte Full Bundle , 5 games counting Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds: Survivor, Jack splot and Claw.

    Then we leave

with video presentation of The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle

One thing to keep in mind: missing 13 days and a few hours until the end of this edition Humble Bundle, and the figure above I have set all games to be gradually rises , so that those interested in doing with the package you can do before and after, and pay less or pay more.

Remember that money can let yourselves be shared among developers of games and two charities , which have already received more than 2 million dollars with this invention.

    Article rejoicing

conclude the success of this initiative, but wondering if they are stretching too much rope . Not even two months ago from its previous edition and the games are going at least in quality (or that is my impression).

    Perhaps

ideal would be to launch these offerings in the festival dates (be expected to Christmas, for example), especially gain the highest possible level games … what’s inside. If you want ideas, I know I give: for the next edition propose to Beep, The Clockwork Man, Castle Voice and Amnesia (Amnesia especially !).

ubuntu OnLive 500x263 OnLive can already enjoy in Linux thanks to Wine

service was available for Windows, but a user has managed to do run on Linux through Wine , and OnLiveInformer explain the whole process to achieve it.

The procedure is explained step by step for Ubuntu 11.04 and Wine 1.3.27 , which they will have to apply a patch. The tutorial that explains step by step how to achieve our goal is a tad long, but makes use of various commands in the terminal is not particularly complex. The video below shows that the theme works:

So now you can prove OnLive in the absence of an official client for Linux, which apparently is in development. Enjoy it

Adobe Flash leaves for 64-bit Linux. Again

    class=”article first_main_article” readability=”46″>

    June 9, 2011 – by techy

long been the status of Adobe Flash on Linux is somewhat unclear. The company has gone from everything to nothing on several occasions , and history repeats itself, because although it appears that continued to develop Adobe Flash in 64-bit version of Linux, this project is now stopped.

Flash Adobe Flash leaves for 64-bit Linux. Again

have one of the O’Reilly blogs, where we have the recent history we have also followed MuyLinux. Last September, for example, appeared Flash Player “Square” (the code name for the x64 edition) 10.1 for Linux, and indeed the Preview 3 of this component for Adobe Flash 10.2 which was launched in November seemed to promise interesting things in this field.

But it was not. Flash Player 10.3 only threw for 32-bit platforms for Linux.

The problem is that there are still security vulnerabilities in that old beta of Adobe Flash for 64-bit systems, and in fact the user community “Square” has been moved to another forum in Adobe, where users are clamoring for an update for this application.

However, Adobe does not respond, and it remains uncertain whether they are working on it or not, since project managers maintain the strictest silence. In practice, Adobe Flash 64-bit Linux is new and unfortunately stopped . Of course, in Linux we have other alternatives, so if you get tired of the situation, come to them.

openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1: and start again

    class=”article first_main_article” readability=”48″>

    June 2, 2011 – by techy

openSUSE project developers have published the first draft of its future distribution. So we already have with us openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1 , an important first step for the development of this issue which will have its final version on 11 November. By the way, 11 of 11 of 11, a nice date:)

openSUSE 12.1 openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1 Milestone 1, and start

expected to appear six milestones in total , after which come two versions Release Candidate and the final edit.

As usual on these issues, openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1 is not aimed at production environments , but if you want to try it you will meet with major changes: updating the kernel and especially 02.06.1939 way to GNOME 3.0, which will have to see how it behaves in this distribution when integrated as standard.

were also made minor changes in KDE with upgrading to KDE 4.6.3 SC , and so does GCC, Perl, Python or RPM package manager. Those responsible for the distro shown in the official announcement has also put much effort into improving the performance and efficiency of systemd, which has been updated to version 26.

    Evidently

distro is not free from faults : the most important are listed here, but we can add to find the error reporting tool, and can even try to fix ourselves with Will Stephenson gave indications that a post in which he explained how to make an error in build.opensuse.org BURP, which is also explained in this howto.

You can find more details on openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1 in that announcement, and download the distribution from the official website or any of the mirrors, but you can also use the following links:
