When a few days ago we mentioned that Electronic Arts would be present at the Ubuntu Developer Summit being held these days in California we hope for a far more ambitious entry in the segment EA Linux , but much I am afraid we must acknowledge that at least the giant distribution of video games has given some attention to our operating system.

is that the entry of Electronic Arts in Linux is almost symbolic: there are two sets available in the Ubuntu Software Center (“Lords of Ultima ” and “ Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances “) that actually can run on any operating system they are considering games that are enjoyed from a web browser.

Integration with Ubuntu and Software Centre is welcome-it’s really not necessary, anyone can go directly to the website of the game-but the fact is we expected (at least me) well over Electronic Arts its huge catalog of games. two titles offered by the company are almost a story , very much in line with other games that has long offered the Chrome Web Store with titles like “The Godfather : Five Families “or” Crime City “, to name two prominent examples of the huge range available there.

Yet this may only be the first step of close collaboration between Electronic Arts and Linux distributions such as Canonical. Personally am not too optimistic that EA just wants to earn some good image , but have to give them a chance. Come on EA, shows that Linux is real commitment.

producer and distributor of video games more important in the world has done far too much attention to our favorite operating system, but that may change: EA event will be at the Ubuntu Developer Summit , to be held in Oakland, California, from 7 to 11 May 2011 – and those responsible will give a talk of 15 minutes.

Data comes from the timing of the event, and also recently sent a tweet that Michael Larabel of Phoronix, which indicated that there would be more news interest in the segment of video games on Linux soon.

All seem to agree now that it seems confirmed that Valve’s Steam service will soon be available natively on Linux: the distribution of video games on our platform could grow significantly thanks to that ad, and it seems that Electronic Arts does not want to lose the opportunity to try to offer some proposals for Linux also.
