Kate, the (or is it?) advanced text editor for KDE meets no less than 10 years at this time and the least we can do is little reminder, right?

has its main developer on the official website of the project: 10 years ago that the code was the basis KWrite to enhance a simple text editor and make it what it is today, with the help of many hands, of course.

    Kate

was packaged for the first time for the release of KDE 2.2 (August 15, 2001) and wore them like this …

     kate in 500x374 kde2.2 Kate turns 10

… Compared with the current SC Kate KDE 4.7 , which is shown in the following manner:

     kate in 500x336 kde4.7 Kate turns 10

Ten years and only cosmetic changes ” asked one of the comments in the original article with some sarcasm. “ No, we have also created a lot of bugs ” replies the author in the same jocular vein.

Joking aside, Kate is certainly one of the best tools in KDE and although we will not refer to their abilities now, it deserves a special article to cover all the best, thus leaving note as congratulations to all who have worked on this application .
