They published a while ago a story on OMG! Ubuntu! it took little to spread like wildfire through the kdeeros environments , because they finally have a own font for KDE really cool. To fill this gap comes Oxygen Font .

Screen shot 2011 December 22 at 02.28.32 500x176 Oxygen Font, new font for KDE

remember in the original article, Ubuntu has its own font, named the same name, like GNOME 3 released theirs, Cantarell. However, KDE had to conform, keep doing it-with the impersonal Sans Serif , one of the things that many users switched to a new facility recently (in case you are interested, is a favorite Droid Sans, which is why many sonriéramos for ourselves when the ROSA team chose that font for Mandriva 2011).

    Designed by Vernon Adams

, Oxygen Font is a font derived from his earlier work, Muli and Fonton, and even comes with much anticipation and many you will want and throw the gauntlet work has just begun as the author says in his blog, so you have to wait for completeness, but also to the artistic team of KDE give the approval, of course.

    Meanwhile, a catch:

release of Firefox 5 caught many extension developers with hands in the dough, leaving their creations without support for the new version of Mozilla Web browser. Oxygen KDE was one of those affected, unemployment is here the solution as an upgrade.

Oxygen KDE Oxygen Theme by dimitrispan88 Firefox 3.2 to Firefox KDE 5

We talked not long ago of Oxygen KDE, the issue of visual integration must for any Firefox user in KDE . Not only is it the best song created to date is that it is impressive in itself, and between this initiative and the changes keep openSUSE developers to the browser (save dialogs, etc.) is an entire luxury use Firefox in KDE .

    Oxygen

KDE 3.2 provides the main novelty its compatibility with Firefox 5 , but more details on what has worked, and for example simply by setting the tabs and you will notice that there is something subtly different forms and details.

‘ll find out all the changes included in this new version, the best place is the product page at KDE-Look where you will also find download , and the update should be manual and the web versions of Firefox add-ons are eternal or directly or arrive.

though it has to do with the subject, another add much appreciated by Firefox users in KDE has just been updated to be compatible with the new browser version, I mean that is the link to save passwords in KWallet , the password manager on the desktop. You will find it in KDE-Apps page.

Personally I just need to update the plug-in integration with Choqok. How do you bear?

exactly one month ago we published the news that Oxygen icons are renewed … for the worse. It was a personal opinion, but rather sheltered by a large majority of comments can be found on this topic. And no solution.

Apps oxygen Oxygen icon icons Retrieving classic

In fact the only icons that were renewed in the package were Oxygen belonging to folders , which adopted a Tango type appearance (classic icons GNOME) that at the end of the nineties had been resultón, but now … no.

Anyway, everyone likes, and is a solution for those who prefer “classic” style of icons Oxygen which, again, seem to be a majority on the basis of the comments may be find throughout the Internet.

KDE-Look Old Oxygen can be found, the package of icons SC KDE 4.6.2 , the latest version before the change. To install only have access to “System Preferences> Appearance Applications> Icons” and install the package from the downloaded file either locally, easier from the wizard “Get New Themes which appear under the same charge. Yes, currently available only in PNG graphics , not scalable SVG.

    Oxymentary, Oxygen icons for GNOME

seems incredible that the Oxygen Icons have not yet reached GNOME in a position, because, come, come, but are either not updated packages ever (there are still things around since 2008 without renewal), or the maintainer dropped them into oblivion, or directly deleted.

    142 007 1 Oxymentary 500x356, icons Oxygen for GNOME

Oxymentary meets Oxygen typical KDE icons in one package for GNOME , and why the name is that when it is not an icon, replace it with the equivalent of Elementary package , in the case to be installed (then it is appropriate that they are).

It’s weird, because just the Oxygen icon set is huge , much more than that of Elementary, but that’s how I explain UPD8 WEB, where I draw the news and the following capture much more dramatic than that heads this post.

500x348 oxymentary Oxymentary, Oxygen for GNOME icons

Oxymentary detail is that monochrome includes icons for the panel , but so far only for light color schemes. Either way we talk about a version 0.1 , so that supposedly improves with subsequent updates (at least hope to be so).

    You can download

Oxymentary in GNOME-Look, where the author has posted that you should unzip the package in “/ usr / share / icons” to install on your system, or “~. icons” if only what you want for your user.

    Always talking

design … With the things that KDE has yet to move forward, touches still are missing here and there, is preparing the update of one of the prides of the desktop: Oxygen icons and twist … in reverse.

Apps oxygen Oxygen icon icons are renewed ... for the worse

    ext4

Blog I read and it is certain that he already knew them redesign a few weeks, when Nuno Pinheiro presented the first examples do not remember where (not in your blog) and, finally, I did not like anything, but assumed they were a sort of “extra” free choice, not an imposition as unfortunate as that is presumed to be.

must be so hard with that assessment? Yes, in all honesty, if there is one aspect of the design of KDE that has moved beyond the desktop, not just Linux, are Oxygen icons . If you know well, I’m sure you recognize that many other desks, including websites (especially websites). And it is clear that there have to be to the liking of everyone, but …

new icons will not change abruptly, the concept, are an adaptation that would not have given much to talk about but for designs folders , with a touch of GNOME brought back to Tango the late nineties that you see below:

June 4 oxygen icons 500x408 icons are renewed Oxygen ... for the worse

a dent in your Identi.ca account, Nuno Pinheiro (a brilliant designer, eye, although even larger errors) lamented the change default icons is scheduled Mandriva 2011 (passed to Elementary ) distribution you’re using (even though until recently worked for Novell). We now have a few who share his disappointment, but with a different address: not like anything this change in Oxygen .

aspect of GTK + applications in KDE is a topic addressed a thousand times, so I understand that everybody knows what’s going on. Since the launch of Oxygen-GTK, the situation has improved a lot, but while applications like GIMP are almost perfect, others such as Firefox continue to suffer.

It’s okay, because it coincides with the release of Firefox 4 has just left the 3.0 version of KDE Oxygen, the best theme best theme ever to say the Anglo-Saxons – integrating the look of Firefox with the Oxygen style own the desktop of the great K.

    sample, a button-better, more-that they say:

KDE Oxygen Firefox1 Impressive 500x390 (Firefox Theme)

As you can see, the direferencia is notable (if even includes Xclear!), and still look quite reasonable default (note, by default, but with Oxygen-GTK), adding the result KDE Oxygen (Firefox Theme) near-perfect .

This great little item will be well beyond the typical we could find in people, for her impeccable appearance, its full configuration module , from which you can tweak almost down to the detail.

KDE Oxygen Firefox5 Impressive 500x332 (Firefox Theme)

Style KDE, a bunch of options

his name might be thought that only works with the main style of the desktop, right? Not really. Oxygen KDE supports a wide settings , with different icon themes, color schemes or style of buttons, tabs, etc..

Indeed, in the image above options are in English, but it should not be I do not know if it is a mistake that I have given to me or do I need to update translations – who are ready, “and rather think that it’s the latter (in any way the choices are very obvious).

conclusion, Oxygen KDE is an awesome job , which if I was already be included in the mainstream of KDE, with Oxygen-GTK. It missed the track if you get into the net with Firefox Konqi land, and to install just have to click on the link below :
