for the umpteenth time I tried with Opera, for the umpteenth time I return to desist, and the Norwegian browser is a piece of software first division, those who are always at the top of the standings, but very few sometimes get titles (and at this stage of the film, I say that for nothing).
Note before beginning: anything that is not understood is explained and discussed in the articles Opera is great … and saving end disappointing and KDE screen with Firefox (special attention to the comments!).
features that make Opera Web browser first is well known, so I will not repeat on this occasion, which I prefer to focus on details. In all honesty, that they say, I refer to some of the failures I highlighted in the previous article, and their solutions , which if any Hayles (as of view).
First, yes it is possible to open any bookmark in Opera in a new tab, although not directly in the Bookmark bar . Just do the following:
normal control-click to open in the background.
normal Shift-click to open in the foreground.
to do just that-except for the bookmarks toolbar, it remains is nonsense , which certainly have complained many browser users in recent years, but Opera will make the smallest case (you can check on the official forums).
Second, the error that I complained to the WordPress, not the fault of Opera, but Opera AdBlock extension , quite poor (with all due respect to the author, that foreign impediments his will can not improve the performance of the complement. Still, is not updated since last August …). And as long to explain something, leave it at that. Just a tip: I recommend Advanced NoAds much, although you have to stick a hand in some settings in specific cases.
Third, displacement websites with great content is still pretty poor at times , and there is nothing to do here. Any other browser, even the most humble, work well where Opera crashes, and while not the end of the world, they would be worth more developers put the batteries with this, because it gives a bad image.
Fourth, resource consumption is too high , and I’m not worth what they “Opera uses a percentage of memory to improve navigation, released when needed”, etc. it is not enforced. Fortunately, the problem is solved Opera 12 , so there’s that (however, I am of those who think that the memory is to spend it, yeah, do not waste it, when the team shakes of effort). And I’m not worth what it has many features factory (that debate another day, I promise).
Fifth, fixed tabs not respond to updated page when in the background … Neither the fixed nor normal, go (yes, just open a page in the background, the corners bend or show colored dots depending on the topic, but when the page receives updates in the background, no nothing).
With that said, the only two mistakes that I think are really important and moving markers , for obvious reasons, and I advance to the “deniers” saying that I tried everything what I mean on multiple computers with different hardware and operating systems (ie, if you do not pass, lucky you). There are other small but annoying details that I will not refer aa because otherwise this is going to stretch too much, that should polish (and no software is free of this).
At the other extreme, there are features of Opera that I love, some impossible to get in another browser (such as stacking tab, awesome, nothing to do with the unhappy prospect of Firefox). Not to mention Opera Mini / Mobile, the best in mobile (that’s where the interesting note of Opera Turbo, not the desktop).
So I am where I began: with nothing to convince me at all and wondering why KDE users have much luck with some things and so little with others. Anyway. My history with Opera is over. For now.
