does something less than a year we promised all of us very happy with the release of the code of id Tech 4 graphics engine for games like Doom 3 that often haunt after an open source license by order was turned into a project that any developer could build on their Open Source games.
One of the most promising projects in this section was ioDoom3 , a version of “free” Doom 3 that would use all the advantages of the new graphics engine situation, but as stated in the project Phoronix has apparently stalled for months.
Git repository in which is included ioDoom3 code has not changed in months, the mailing list has been no new posts since May and activity on the Twitter account, the Wiki, the Bugzilla forums or particular is null .
This situation seems
extended to other projects that theoretically could have taken advantage of id Tech 4, and in the original article mentioned Dante, Oliver McFadden development also play Dhewm3. It’s a real shame have at our disposal a powerful engine like this and that developers do not end up taking advantage, but perhaps the imminent arrival of Steam help reinvigorate those efforts.
